Moving - hannahmia.com/blog

Seeing as I'm absolutely dreadful at updating this blog, I've decided to make a fresh-start here: please follow me over, where I promise to be a much more frequent blogger.

HannahMia Wedding Photography

I've finally launched my HannahMia Wedding Photography website. Please go visit. My portfolio is still a bit thin on the ground, so, I'm more than willing to shoot my first few bookings for free, so, get in touch!

Cobra Starship & Burlesque

OK, so, I'm super bad at updating this blog. But, occasionally it creeps back into my mind...

A little while ago I took some stills of the music video for 'Living in the Sky with Diamonds' by Cobra Starship. It was horrendously cold & we were all suffering, so, Laura, in her diddy, but absolutely fantastic dress must have been finding it really tough! Anyway, just the one shot to be getting on with from that & I'll let you know when it's finished! It's unlikely I'll actually do that, you know...

Last weekend I played photographer at a Burlesque Night (with a few bands & a comedian in there too...). The boyfriend tagged along because he's been talking about going to a burlesque show since we got together & to give him some credit (for his judgement of my taste, not organising it, obviously!) I did really enjoy it!

Vicky Butterfly

After my disaster with the orange hair dye (see below) I had totally resolved not to dye my hair red again, but I am a bit in love with Vicky Butterfly's hair... This always happens! Every time I see someone with red hair I want it. What to do...

Lucy

I have my camera back! It's very exciting, except I have far too much university work to do to actually put it to good use, not to mention my new job taking up what time I do have. I did, however, have a shoot with Lucy a couple of weeks ago in Hyde Park, which was very nice, even if Lucy did get incredibly lost!

Oh & I have red hair now (& a shockingly messy bedroom). That really is about all I have to say.

Big Bows

Yesterday I had a shoot with Aleks & make-up artist Dora. This has been planned for quite a while, however, it looked like it would be cancelled again due to my camera still being broken (& my insurance company being less than impressive - they promise three days until some progress will be made, it's been over two weeks). Luckily, Aleks lent me her camera, which is not too dissimilar to mine, so not too much confusion & I could still use my lenses. I do think I made a bit of a mistake in using my new lens, which got delivered after my camera broke, as the focusing in a lot of the shots is a bit off. Or perhaps I'm just incompetent? From online reviews though, that does seem to be a common complaint for this particular lens.

Those bows were both a nightmare to make (as they looked far too small when away from my head so I thought they needed to be much bigger) & a real effort for Dora to reattach to Aleks' hair every fifteen minutes. Still, pretty happy with the results.

Escalator Collision

So, in a rush to make my train, I fell up an escalator & did this:

Ugh.

Anyway, I did a test shoot with Isabel in Hyde Park last week, it was very nice, though, I dislike being hot & covered in sticky sun screen (lovely Irish skin that I have...). Might be the last photos to come from my camera in a while.

Christmas

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas! I'm just going to stick up a few pointless photos of my Christmas for you to look at. My Christmas was nice, if a bit short-lived, I've gone back to Blockbuster for the holidays & as a result, only had Christmas Eve & Christmas Day off, which was no fun, especially as the Boxing Day rush does not extend off the highstreet into Blockie, where we have the same sale on as we did before Christmas & haven't even bothered to cut the price of the Christmas selection boxes...

Christmas isn't Christmas without some exciting socks from my aunt. She may well have out done herself this year.

My Dad got me a backdrop, which my brother & I set up & tried out in the dining room, however, even with the table blocking the entrance to the kitchen, there wasn't enough space...the lights were pretty much on top of him & the camera was inches away from his face. This posed several problems - it was boiling, I couldn't light the backdrop to conceal the creases & well, I couldn't really light it properly at all. Still, I like this candid shot:

We're having to send the backdrop back as one of the stands was cracked when we got it out of the box. After that I will concentrate on getting the creases out & finding somewhere practical to set it up. I'm hoping my room at university is big enough to actually fashion some half-decent set-up. But, even though I've been living there for the last three months I can't envision how big the room is. Fingers crossed.

In other news, I had a beauty shoot last week & now that I have a new mouse (I cannot stand using my Macbook's trackpad) courtesy of my brother, I shall endeavour to get them up. I might also do some university work this week. As I have a five thousand word essay on vampires that I've yet to start...not to mention the Economics...
